2. Special requirements for admission: the necessary conditions of entry to a master program is a professional background that meets the qualification of a “bachelor” or a “specialist”. It is evaluated at the entrance tests conducted in the form of: a) test, which determines the level of theoretical training, b) solo performance program (or fragments) that determines the level of musical and performance skills.

3. General field of study: This area is intended to prepare specialists in the field of music education and training, able to fully carry out educational activities at the relevant professional areas: general music education and teaching disciplines, scientific activity: research in music education and education management and supervising research work of students, music activity and education in cultural and educational institutions of various types; management of activities in terms of public administration in culture and education.

4. Professional profile of graduates: experts EQL “master” can occupy the following positions: teacher of music and world culture at general education schools (gymnasiums, lyceums, etc.), teacher of professional disciplines (music instrument, music theory, harmony, musical literature) at educational art institutions for children of different types (music school, studio, etc.), teacher of professional disciplines (musical instrument, accompanist class) at educational institutions of all levels of educational accreditation, employee at after-school child care, entertainment facilities, government employee.

5. Possibility of further studies: after getting EQL “master” on this field, there is possibility of study on the post graduate program.

The mark “passed” is assigned to the student who has at least 50% of the points.

8. Requirements for the state certification:

  1. Musical instrument.

State examination has the form of a solo performance on a particular musical instrument, which consists of three musical pieces: a polyphonic work, a piece of great form (sonata cycle), a concert piece.

Evaluation Criteria:

Mark "excellent" – holistically conscious performance of the entire program at a high artistic and technical level. High level of maturity of musical thinking, technical training, creative attitude to work, a vivid example of performing interpretation, persuasion and interpretation of performance artistry. Full use of color possibilities of the piano. Ability to overcome excessive nervousness.

Mark "good" – performance of all the exam program at a sufficient artistic and technical level with the presence of some immaterial deficiencies, the presence of some minor technical errors, lack of expressiveness and emotionality.

Mark "satisfactorily" – performance of the entire program on low artistic and technical standards, lack of understanding and implementation of the artictic image, the existence of technical errors and errors of the musical text.

Mark “unsatisfactorily" – lack of integrity and understanding of the image in the performance of the examination program, a large number of technical errors, lack of the purely piano playing skills, inability to mentally tune in the quality of the solo performance program and overcome anxiety.


Defence of the master's thesis

Requirements for the master's thesis:

Master's work is defenced according to the order that is set in Master studies regulations (the extract from the department’s session and 2 reviews must be attached to the Master’s work).

The master's work of artistic and pedagogical fiels of studies consists of:

  • introduction;

  • the main sections and subsections;

  • conclusions after each chapter;

  • general conclusions

  • list of references

  • addendum (examples, diagrams, tables, etc.).

The volume of the body of work - 60-80 pages (excluding reference list and addendum).

Criteria for evaluation of the master's work.

  1. Compliance with the content of its topic, the degree of disclosure of the claimed subject. Relevance of theoretical and practical parts of the subject, target, task, etc. hypothesis research.

  1. The level of novelty and accuracy of the presentation of the facts and phenomena.

  2. Logical presentation of factual material, its generalizations and conclusions according to the basic stylistic norms prescribed for the work.

  3. The validity of using the terminology and conceptual apparatus of research.

  4. Compliance with all requirements for registration of the master's work (structural parameters, references, bibliography, etc.).

  5. The ability of the researcher to present freely, logically and convincingly the content of the work during the defence.

The objective of the course – formation of the methodological culture, based on a system of knowledge, skills and competences in terms of organization and conduction of the research activities, providing undergraduates with the knowledge of methodological principles and research activities system (methodology, techniques and scientific concepts of psycho-pedagogical and art studies); development of the abilities to analyze and summarize the current artistic and teaching experience to implement parts of their own practice, the formation of practical skills and their application, application of the scientific methods when conducting human studies, the development of programs and methods of such research, familiarization with ethical norms and rules of the scientific research.
