1.Introduction of the candidate


(8 pages maximum)

1.1 Short biography


Give a short biography in French and in English (10 lines maximum).

1.2 Detailed introduction


Give a complete résumé and a summary specifying the titles and main works of the applicant.

Fill in the form in appendix 7.3 entitled: Additional administrative document.

1.3 List of publications


Provide a list of ‘selected publications’ of the applicant. Precise the selection method used to establish the list.

For the most significant publications, give the complete references (article title, number of pages and possibly the impact factor). Indicate as well the total number of publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

2. Context and position of the proposal


(0,5 page maximum)

General presentation of the question addressed by the proposal and the framework of the project (fundamental, industrial research or experimental development)

Indicate:

  • the position of the project with respect to the context developed above: with respect to competing, complementary or prior projects and research work, patents and standards, etc.

- position of the project at European and international level.

2.2 Introduction of the host laboratory


(1 page maximum)

Introduce the host laboratory (main thematic lines and orientations, and research activities…) and the means to be provided to the applicant.


3. Scientific and technical description

3.1 State of the Art


(2 pages maximum)

Present the national and international state of the art on the subject.

Show any preliminary results.

Include the necessary bibliographic references in appendix 7.1.

3.2 Objectives, originality and innovative nature of the project


(2 pages maximum)


Describe the scientific/technical objectives of the project

Introduce the scientific progress expected. Emphasize the original and/or innovative nature of the project.

Describe the scientific and technical barriers that will be overcome by carrying out the project.

If applicable, describe the project end-product(s). Present the expected results, with if possible appropriate evaluation and success criteria to determine the end-of-project results.

^ In case of multidisciplinary projects, show how the scientific disciplines are interlinked.

4. Scientific and technical programme, Project organisation

4.1 Scientific Programme, Project structure


(2 pages maximum)

Present the scientific programme and justify the programme work breakdown into tasks consistent with the objectives.

Provide a diagram showing the links between the various tasks (technical flow chart).

The tasks represent the broad phases of the project. Their number is limited.

^ Do not omit the activities and actions relating to the dissemination and exploitation of the results.

4.2 Project management


(2 pages maximum)

Indicate the organisational aspects of the project.

4.3 Description of the tasks


(1 to 2 pages by task)

For each task describe:

  • the objectives and success indicators if any,

  • the person responsible of the task,

  • the detailed work programme per task,

  • the deliverables,

  • a description of the methods and technical choices and the way in which solutions will be brought,

  • the risks and the back-up solutions envisaged.

4.4 Tasks schedule, deliverables and milestones


(3 pages maximum)

Present in graphic form (Gantt diagram for example) a schedule of the tasks and their dependencies.

Provide a table summarizing all the project deliverables (task number, date, title, person responsible).

Provide a synthesis of the scientific and/or technical milestones, the main meeting points, the blocking points or contingencies that could jeopardize the project outcome, and the planned project meetings.

  1. Dissemination and exploitation of results.


For information only: 2 pages for this chapter.

Present the strategies for exploiting the results:

  • scientific communication,

  • communication to the general public,,

  • exploitation of the expected results,

  • the scientific and technical repercussions, the industrial or economic spin-offs, etc,

  • other repercussions (standardization, information to the public authorities, etc.),

  • the nature and time-scale of the expected technical-economic spin-offs,

  • any impact on employment, creation of new activities, etc.


Present the broad lines of the methods of protecting and exploiting the results.


6. Scientific justification of requested resources


The scientific and technical justification for the resources requested in the submission document shall be presented here and summarized on the scale of the project in the "Summary Tables" sheet of the administrative and financial document (submission document) such as it is completed on the submission site.
    1. Equipment


^ Indicate the nature of the equipment* and justify the choice.

If necessary, indicate the share of funding requested for the project and whether the envisaged purchases must be supplemented by other sources of funding. If so, indicate the amount and origin of the said additional funding.

* A quote will be requested if the project is selected for funding.

6.2 Personnel costs


The non-permanent staff (doctoral and post- doctoral researchers, fixed-term contract staff, etc...) financed on the project must be justified.

Provide the job profiles for the staff to recruit.

For PhD positions, indicate whether the PhDs grant requests are planned for or in progress, and specify the nature and the share of funding assignable to the project.

6.3 Subcontracting


Indicate:

  • the nature of the subcontracted services

  • the type of service provider.

6.4 Travel


Indicate:

  • travel associated with field data acquisition work (measurement campaigns, etc.)

  • travel associated with symposiums, conferences, conventions, etc.



6.5 Costs justified by internal procedures of invoicing


Indicate the nature of the services.

6.6 Other operating expenses


Any significant expense relating to this line item must be justified.

7. Annexes

7.1 References


Include the list of bibliographic references used in the "State of the art" section and the partners' bibliographic references relating to the project.

7.2 Involvement of individuals in other contracts


Indicate in this table other ongoing projects, whether through ANR programmes or other organizations, foundations, the European Union, etc., and whether as coordinator or partner. For each project give the name of the call for proposals, the project title and the name of the coordinator.
