Call for Papers


Dear colleagues!

You are welcome to participate in the 5th Ukrainian Scientific-Practical Seminar with international participation “Cognitive Study in the System of Humanities”, to be held at Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, in Poltava, Ukraine, 28th March, 2013.

Seminar Focus

The purpose of seminar is consideration of problems of Cognitive Modeling, conceptualization, categorization, and modeling of verbalized mental units through the prism of linguistics, psychology, philosophy, literary criticism, sociology, political science and other related disciplines.

As the participants linguists, literary critics, philosophers, psychologists, political scientists, sociologists, all research workers interested in problems of Cognitive Study area are invited to the seminar.

^ The languages of the seminar are: Ukrainian, Russian, and English.

Format of the Seminar: Internet conference via Skype

We are inviting proposals for paper presentations, interactive on-line conference session. 

The program of seminar will be sent to the participants by e-mail at the beginning of March, 2013.

The papers will be published in a separate volume of Collection of scientific works and sent to the participants of seminar after work of seminar first in electronic variant.

Distribution of Collection of scientific works, program of conference as printed copy and certificate are planned. In this case each participant of Internet-seminar “Cognitive Study in the System of Humanities” should address the organizing committee by e-mail for confirmation and details.


^ To participate in the seminar you should e-mail the organizing committee 2 files in Microsoft Office Word-2003 format by March 15th, 2013:

  1. a paper named Author’s Last Name_paper, e.g. Ivanov_paper;

  2. an application form (a Microsoft Office Word table containing all the necessary information about the participant) named Author’s Last Name_info, e.g. Ivanov_info.

We invite you to submit an article according to the Editorial Instructions:


  1. Papers no less than 5 papers are invited (Word, size A4, Font – unless otherwise noted, Times New Roman, 14 point type size, single interval, without schemes, images and tables).

  2. Page margins – 2 cm. Left indentation – 1.25 cm. Please observe that indentation is to be made by using “Format – Indentation”, not by using “Tabulation.”

  3. Punctuation Instructions:

    1. There is a distinction between a hyphen (-) and a dash (–).

    2. Quotation marks should look like this (“”).

    3. Apostrophes should look like this (’).

    4. Avoid using two spaces between words, line breaks, or page breaks.

    5. Do not use tables, pictures and graphs because problems may occur when printing the materials. Note: if the necessity in schemes, images and tables, please send them in separate file.

  4. Parts of the paper

    1. Author’s name, affiliation, and supervisor – three lines, right justified:

      1. The last name and the first name of the author in bold italics,

      2. The name of the university in italics,

    2. Title – centered, boldface.

    3. The text body. Alignment – justified (i.e., flush left and right).

    4. Reference list (see below for instructions).

    5. A summary and list of up to 10 key words (for a total of about 2-5 lines) should be given after the references. Font – 12-point, single-spaced, Times New Roman, left indentation set to 1.25 cm and in italics.

Language means of embodiment of concept HAPPINESS



Words, sentences and text fragments, which are analyzed in the papers, are to be given in the italics, notions should be written in quotation marks. For example, to express the notion “hospitable” in Ukrainian there is a word “гостинний.” Concepts are written in capitals. For instance, the concept LOVE is verbalized in contemporary Ukrainian with the help of such words as любов and пристрасть. The most important fragments should be underlined.

References must be сited like this: [1, p. 3], [5, p. 4-7; 8, p. 17-21], [1; 3; 5] – where the first figure is the number of the source in the reference list and the second one the number of the page. Please observe that after the letter “p.” and before the number of the page there must be a blank space. References are obligatory.

References should be presented in alphabetical order after the headline References, e.g.:

The article is devoted to the investigation of peculiarities of European integration discourse concepts through the representation of the value system in them. Six kinds of oppositions were singled out. The article is done in the cognitive-functional aspect. The specific of enlargement ideology was demonstrated, which is the moving force of the European integration discourse.

Key words: cognitive and discoursive paradigm, concept, ideological unit, political discourse, values.
