Eligibility:
Young researchers working abroad with very good scientific accomplishments and who have excelled both qualitatively and quantitatively in their scientific or technological career are eligible to receive funding and resources to perform a two to three year-long research project in Brazil. The host research group would also receive funds, as a bench fee. An international call for proposals will be periodically and internationally disclosed. The program anticipates the availability of funds for at least 100 young researchers per year.

The scholarship program for “Special Visiting Researcher” aims to attract foreign researchers recognized internationally as leadership in priority areas of Science Without Borders program, to conduct projects with Brazilian research groups and visit Brazil for up to three months each year over two to three years. The program also provides scholarships for Brazilian students to doctoral and postdoctoral keep projects in Brazil and abroad. The benefits of this fellowship include support for living expenses when the researcher is in Brazil as well funding for the local laboratory.

Eligibility:
The fellowships are open to truly outstanding candidates with distinguished curricula and proven ability to communicate fluently in English. We expect candidates with studies in the social sciences (sociology, anthropology, political science, economics), environmental sciences, planning, ecology, geography, architecture and contemporary history. Candidates from other disciplines might apply if adequately justified by their curriculum and motivation letter. Interdisciplinary experience and previous work on political ecology and related approaches are highly appreciated, as is civic engagement with the social issues dealt by the network. As the PhD must be completed within the 3 years of the fellowships we anticipate that successful candidates will already hold a Masters degree and have some experience with social science research methods.

Scholarship Description: ENTITLE will train 17 researchers in the emerging field of Political Ecology, giving them the theoretical, analytical and complementary skills that will make them employable in jobs related to environmental policy analysis and advocacy. Research and training are framed around five key clusters concerned with the analysis of: environmental conflicts; environmental movements; natural disasters; changes in co-production and the commons; and environmental justice and democracy. Research is based on a series of empirically-based investigations of a geographically and thematically diverse set of case-studies. The researchers of the network will collaborate to offer a theoretical and methodological framework for the empirical research and will synthesize the results of the individual cases in a series of publishable outputs.

We are pleased to announce that the call for application 2011-2012 of the two-year Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe (MIREES) has been launched.

From March 29th 2011, it is possible to apply using the on-line service for admission in the academic year 2011-12 to the Master Arts in "Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe" (MIREES), course class 52 LM - International relations, the international Second cycle Joint Degree awarded by the Faculty of Political Science "Roberto Ruffilli" in cooperation with its partner universities.

Two evaluation sessions are scheduled: - the first evaluation session, with deadline 16th May 2011 for applying and sending documents, open to all candidates; -the second evaluation session, with deadline ^ 19th September 2011 for applying and sending documents, only for EU students and non-EU students with equivalent status. Fee waivers will be assigned to 7 students during the first evaluation session and other scholarship opportunities offered by the University of Bologna are available.

The program offers the opportunity to learn core reporting skills under the guidance of experienced editors and producers: how to identify compelling stories, secure sources, research facts, and ask the right questions. Interns will expand their professional network and receive job search assistance from the program director. Plus all interns, from throughout the year, meet and network at the annual IHS Journalism Career Workshop.

Previous experience is a plus but not required. Skilled writers and communicators passionate about liberty are encouraged to apply. A journalism major is not required. Students from all disciplines, including political science and economics, are eligible. The program is open to undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates.

Almost all internships are in the United States, and American media outlets require candidates to speak and write English fluently. Candidates must also meet all visa requirements.

This program, created with Neuffer’s family and friends, aims to perpetuate her memory and advance her life mission of promoting international understanding of human rights and social justice while creating an opportunity for women journalists to build their skills.

One woman journalist will be selected to spend seven months in a tailored program with access to MIT's Center for International Studies as well as media outlets including ^ The Boston Globe and The New York Times. The flexible structure of the program will provide the fellow with opportunities to pursue academic research and hone her reporting skills covering topics related to human rights.

The Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship is open to women journalists whose focus is human rights and social justice. Applicants must be dedicated to a career in journalism in print, broadcast or online media and show a strong commitment to sharing knowledge and skills with colleagues upon the completion of the fellowship. Excellent written and spoken English skills are required. A stipend will be provided, and expenses, including airfare and housing, will be covered.
