Lviv NationalFranko University (Ukraine) Arts and Cultures Department Annual masterclasses 2012-2013 academicyear LvivNational Franko University in cooperation with the Lviv Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra holds the selection for two-year Master coursein applied composition and two-year Master course in conducting. The courses will be conducting by the professors from Ukraine and from Italy. The training will be held at the Faculty of Culture and Arts of the University. It will consist 150 hours per year, divided into a two 15-day (and 75 hours) teaching periods. The programme of each of the course will include the theoretical studies, as well as the direct work with the symphony and chamber orchestras. The best students works in composition, written during the course will be recorded with the Lviv Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. The cycle of conferences, concerts, workshops, performance and recording of individual works of young Italian composers, in collaboration with MOA PROJECT.Writing at least 6 passages lasting from 20"to 1'30" as accompaniment to the videos, selected for the course. 6-14 of August – theoretical studies (9am – 1pm),work with the orchestra, the performance of students’ works (4 - 8pm). The study, performance and recording with the orchestra of some of the best works of students (not more than 20 minutes for each student) Working on the writing of 3 pieces for chamber cast and for the orchestra, which will be presented at the second meeting. ^ 8 - 13of January 2013 – theoretical studies – analysis and score reading, conducting, discussing the works of students and classes in composition. 14 -23 ofJanuary– theoretical studies (9am – 1pm), work with the orchestra, the performance of students’ works (4 - 8pm). The study, performance and recording with the orchestra of some of the best works of students (not more than 20 minutes for each student) The transfer exam on the second course - presentation and discussion of works written during the academic year, examination of conducting. ^ Possibility of the placing in the apartments of different types ( 4-6 beds in the room) from 15Ђ per night. The transfer exam to the 2nd course: 1. Implementation of one or more movements of one of the symphonies that were studied during the year, by the choice of the selection committee. 2. Implementation of one of the three arias alleged by a student, from repertoire that was studied during the year, by the choice of the selection committee. During the annual masterclassesit is also possible to participate only one of two meetings - summer or winter. In this case the students will receive the certificate of the participant.
