Educational discipline

^ «RADIAL DIAGNOSTICS AND RADIATIONAL THERAPY»


Normative discipline

1. Introduction

Devision of medicine, that developes theory and practice of usage of ionizing radiation with diagnostic and therapeutic aim is called Radiology. It includes Radial diagnostics and Radiational therapy.

One of the basic scientific disciplines that included in medical radiology is radial diagnostics. Its subject is a diagnostics by images (synonyms: medical imaging, diagnostic radiology, intrascopy).

Therapeutic radiology concerns of usage of ionizing radiation for treatment as oncologic so non-oncologic diseases.

For today medical doctors have a wide choice of radial methods of imaging : x-ray imaging, nuclear medicine, ultrasound investigation, computed tomorgaphy and megnetic resonance imaging. For correct usage and choice of methods of radial diagnostics in each clinical event, determination of its role and place it is necessary to have special knowleges about possiblities of them. In order of this governmental standarts of higher medical education demand from graduating student of higher medical institutions skills of usage of different methods of radial investigations, to choose an optimal method in each clinical case for determination functional and morphological changes with pathology of different organs and systems, to interpret results of radial methods of investigation for correct put a diagnosis. Governmental standarts of higher medical education also provides that clinical doctor must be able to estimate possibilities of different methods of radiational therapy and to choose optimal one for treatment of oncologic and non-oncologic diseases.

Studying of his discipline on subgraduate level of medical education in keeping with request of governmental standarts has propedeutic character.


^ Quantity of academic hours: 120 (4,0 ECTS credits), from them:

lectures - 20 hours.

practical clases – 60 hours.

self-educational work - 40 hours.

Content of the discipline is structurized on ІІІ modules and 9 content modules.


^ 2. Structure of discipline "Radial diagnostics and Radiational therapy"

and charging scores for current educational action (conversion of traditional marks to scores; mark in scores, mark in scores for individual tasks, expected by work educational programm).

^ 3. Final aim of studying educational discipline according with Educational Professional Program (EPP):

P.P. 090 To analyse radial semiotics of functional and morphological changes in pathology of different organs and systems;

P.P. 114 To determine possibilities and choose methods of radiational therapy of tumors and non-tumoral diseases;

P.P. 214 To choose an optimal method of radial investigation for determination of functional and morphological changes in pathology of different organs and systems.
